Technical Lead

Reporting to: Director of Engineering

Location: Colombo

Opportunity:

We are looking for strong candidates with high calibre academic background to work with a dynamic and experienced development team. You must have experience in design and development in Java and J2EE. You will work principally in Java and J2EE technologies and be challenged daily, working with Valista’s award winning technology. Duties:

Main Areas of Responsibility

Involvement in the design and development of the company's products and technologies
Provide on-site and off-site consulting to customers and integrators around all product SDK's and performance tuning
Specification and planning of new product modules and features
Maintenance of high quality programming standards
Performance of developer module testing and performance of integrated bundle testing
Writing developer level documentation and assisting technical writer to create customer facing documentation
Ability to present and discuss technology in a competent manner with customers and travel on site where required
Tracking industry developments and standards and implementing these into the companies technologies

These are the main elements of the job. However, you may be expected to undertake tasks outside of this job description and to use your own initiative to develop the role.

Experience & Qualifications:

BSc Computer Science/ Software Engineering or related discipline
At least 5 years software development experience. Out of that at least 3 years experience working with Java/J2EE technologies
Experience in OOD/UML, Spring, Hibernate, Weblogic/JBoss, Tomcat, JUnit, Oracle, and working experience on Linux /Solaris environment are a strong plus
Web application development and experience in Struts/JSF, Portal technologies is an added advantage

Personal Attributes & Competencies:

Must be self-motivated and work with minimum supervision to achieve deadlines
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Must possess excellent oral, written and presentational skills
Experience in a team oriented development environment is a plus
Ability to grasp business and technical context
Must be able to apply engineering processes and standards to achieve high quality
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and all levels across distributed teams
Experience in enterprise scale application development and the ability to understand and apply design patterns based on this experience
