Architect

Reporting to: Director of Engineering

Location: Colombo

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Leading software design, development and deployment of the company’s leading edge products and technologies
  • Proposals and job estimation
  • Work with Project / Engineering Managers from a technological viewpoint during delivery of projects.
  • Assist in overseeing software development process
  • Assist in mentoring junior members of development teams
  • Ensure timely and robust implementation of the companies development plans
  • Tracking industry developments and standards and implementing these into the companies technologies
  • Ensuring appropriate development standards are adhered to by development team
  • Produce design and technical specification documentation
  • Must be self-motivated and able to firmly lead
  • Must possess excellent oral, written and presentational skills
  • Occasional customer facing responsibilities

These are the main elements of the job. However from time to time you may be expected to undertake tasks outside of this job description and to use your own initiative to develop the role.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • BSc Computer Science or related discipline
  • 7 years software development experience
  • 3 years experience in Java
  • 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Strong technical and solution architecture background across many technologies
  • Expert knowledge of products, services and solutions in chosen domain
  • Strong industry-related knowledge and experience
  • Ability to craft responses and design solutions to customer requirements
  • Experience with OOD / UML, Spring, Hibernate, Weblogic / JBoss, Tomcat and Oracle a strong plus Knowledge of the following is also desirable:, JSF, EJB, J2EE, Ant, Struts, JUnit, XML, WAP, SMS, WML, GPRS, 3G, UNIX, Solaris, Linux, mySQL
  • Experience in enterprise scale application development and the ability to understand and apply design patterns based on this experience
